Profit Margin & Markup Calculator
Enter cost and selling price to get profit, margin and markup — or set a target margin to find the right price.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is sent or stored.
How it works
Margin = profit ÷ price. Markup = profit ÷ cost. Price for a target margin = cost ÷ (1 − margin). A 50% markup is only a 33.3% margin — mixing them up is one of the most common pricing mistakes.
Frequently asked questions
Margin or markup — which should I track?
Margin, because it tells you what share of each sale you keep, and it is what accountants and investors use.
Should cost include shipping and fees?
Yes — include every cost of making the sale, such as payment gateway fees and packaging.
